One of the most common inquiries FOHCWL receives is “How, when, and where can I or my children attend an IL Hunter Education Safety Course & Field Day which qualifies us to purchase a valid IL hunting license?” This question is the result of the law which requires any Illinois Resident born on or after January 1, 1980, to have a valid Hunter Education Certificate of Competency issued by the
Illinois Department of Natural Resources (ILDNR), Safety Education Division. ILDNR utilizes volunteers to facilitate Hunter Education Safety Courses, and these volunteers go through a background process and several steps of training. We are happy to report several FOHCWL members are certified instructors. Keep your eye on our Facebook page and website for the next Field Day.
