Our informal outdoorsmen mentorship program connects experienced local hunters, anglers, and conservationists with youth and adult newcomers eager to explore the outdoors. We encourage those familiar with Henderson County’s natural resources to share their knowledge through hands-on experiences like hunting, fishing, habitat work, and outdoor safety.
Whether you are a seasoned outdoorsman or someone just beginning your journey, this program fosters community, confidence, and conservation values.
If you are interested in serving as a mentor or joining as a mentee, let us know—we will help you network with others who share your passion.
Together, we are building a stronger outdoorsmen legacy through shared experiences and stewardship.
Passing on outdoorsmen traditions isn’t just about teaching someone to hunt or fish—it’s about preserving our connection to the land, fostering conservation ethics, and ensuring future generations understand and protect Henderson County’s natural resources.
For many residents, fishing, hunting, and outdoor activities have been formative parts of their lives—a healthy way to escape the fast-paced, electronic world and reconnect with nature. But these traditions don’t pass on by themselves. They require mentors willing to invest time, share knowledge, and welcome newcomers into the outdoorsmen community.
Every mentor creates a ripple effect. The young hunter you take out this fall may one day mentor someone else. The angler you teach to read the river may become a conservation advocate. The family you introduce to Henderson County’s state parks may pass that love of nature on to their children.
